King Ropes wrangles in a new website

King’s Saddlery – King Ropes quietly rolled out a fresh kingropes.com experience that brings its iconic Sheridan, Wyoming brand into a more modern, user-friendly format. The updated site puts their world-renowned ropes front and center with clearer product organization, richer descriptions, and a smoother shopping flow for customers near and far. Visitors can now more easily browse ropes and soon, more merchandise as well as explore the story behind the brand that has made King’s Saddlery – King Ropes a staple of Western culture for decades.

APPROACH

This project had its challenges, as it was a multi-year start-and-stop effort due to staff turnover, and the business was not quite ready for the transition to a new system. Fortunately, as we made a new attempt to complete the site, we found that their existing hosting provider was going to discontinue or move their site, and we took that timeline as an opportunity to launch the new website in its new location.

SOLUTION

Instead of putting all of the 1,000’s of products on their website, we decided to start with the ropes that King’s is known for around the world. Their old website was ‘kind of’ selling them online but not without a lot of human intervention and pain to get the order from online into the hands of the customer.

The new website was built with the Kadence WP theme framework on WordPress and WooCommerce as the online store engine. This provides an excellent, flexible foundation for design and layout. Big Shifter then tailored a starting template extensively to fit the Kings’ brand. They have since drastically increased their online sales and will move more product to the site once their internal processes are streamlined.
