Whitney Benefits launches a website redesign

Whitney Benefits, a Sheridan, Wyoming-based organization established in 1927, recently underwent a significant digital transformation with the help of Big Shifter, LLC. The organization, known for providing interest-free student loans and supporting educational programs at Sheridan College, faced challenges with an outdated website that lacked self-management capabilities.

Recognizing the need for a modern, user-friendly website, Whitney Benefits issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a comprehensive website redesign. Big Shifter successfully bid on and won the project, beginning an exciting collaboration.

APPROACH

The primary goals of the redesign included:

  • Implementing a content management system for self-updates
  • Enhancing user experience and accessibility
  • Implementing a content management system for self-updates
  • Showcasing Whitney Benefits’ community impact and programs

Big Shifter’s expertise in creating high-end designs, user-friendly interfaces, and conversion-focused strategies made it an ideal partner for this project. The redesign process involved close collaboration between Big Shifter and Whitney Benefits to ensure the new website accurately reflected the organization’s mission and values while providing an intuitive platform for administrators and users.

SOLUTION

The project was not without its pivots. Several elements changed during the project, but through our tight communication with our client; we could discuss options and ensure that the work could progress without jeopardizing the project. Here are a few of the project elements that ‘moved the goalposts,’ so to speak:

  1. The project was slated for a four-month effort. However, the client’s current hosting provider informed our client that they would no longer be hosting their site, and the project length was truncated to about two months.
  2. Late in the project, the client hosting provider informed us they would no longer be hosting their domain name, so Big Shifter switched into high gear again to get that domain name moved right before the site launch.
  3. The client decided to do a brand update through another designer in the area, which Big Shifter needed to implement late in the project.

We launched a new website based on the WordPress templating system, Kadence WP. The client could initially select the template they wanted to start with, and Big Shifter customized it to ensure a bespoke design. We successfully launched a new website based on the WordPress templating system, Kadence WP.
